P. Murugaboopathy
P. Murugaboopathy is a senior traditional artist from Kovilpatti, widely known for his devotion to classical Indian painting traditions and his long association with the Kondiah Raju art lineage. He serves as the State President of Kondiah Raju Art Foundation – Tamilnadu and is the Director of Kondiah Raju Art School, Kovilpatti.
With decades of experience in drawing, painting, and devotional art, Murugaboopathy has dedicated his life to preserving and teaching the visual language inspired by the legendary artist Oviyamani C. Kondiah Raju. His works reflect strong line quality, graceful composition, devotional expression, and the traditional South Indian calendar-art aesthetic.
Murugaboopathy has participated in several important art events and exhibitions across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. His artistic journey includes recognitions from Nellai District Artists Association, Kayalpatnam Art Exhibition, Tamil Nadu Government Department of Art and Culture, and Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru. He has also taken part in major public art platforms such as Chitra Santhe, Mysore/Bengaluru, where artists from across India gather to exhibit their works.
As a teacher and cultural organiser, he continues to guide young artists through Kondiah Raju Art School – Kovilpatti, helping students understand the discipline, beauty, and heritage of traditional painting. Through his leadership in the Kondiah Raju Art Foundation, he actively works to protect the legacy of Kondiah Raju and promote traditional art education for future generations.

ஓவியர் பி. முருகபூபதி அவர்கள் கோவில்பட்டியைச் சேர்ந்த மூத்த பாரம்பரிய ஓவியக் கலைஞர். இவர் கொண்டையராஜு கலை அறக்கட்டளை – தமிழ்நாடு அமைப்பின் மாநிலத் தலைவர் ஆகவும், கோவில்பட்டி கொண்டையராஜு ஓவியப் பள்ளியின் இயக்குநர் ஆகவும் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார்.
ஓவியமணி சி. கொண்டையராஜு அவர்களின் பாரம்பரிய ஓவிய வழிமுறைகளைப் பாதுகாத்து, அடுத்த தலைமுறைக்கு கொண்டு சேர்ப்பதில் இவர் நீண்ட காலமாக அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார். தெய்வீக ஓவியங்கள், பாரம்பரிய கோடுகள், அழகிய நிற அமைப்பு, உணர்ச்சி மிக்க முகபாவங்கள் ஆகியவை இவரது ஓவியங்களின் சிறப்பம்சங்களாகும்.
நெல்லை மாவட்ட ஓவியர் சங்கம், காயல்பட்டினம் கலைவிழா, தமிழ்நாடு அரசு கலை பண்பாட்டுத் துறை, கர்நாடக சித்ரகலா பரிஷத் போன்ற பல்வேறு கலை அமைப்புகளின் நிகழ்வுகளில் இவர் பங்கேற்று பாராட்டுகளையும் சான்றிதழ்களையும் பெற்றுள்ளார். கோவில்பட்டி கொண்டையராஜு ஓவியப் பள்ளி மூலம் இளம் தலைமுறைக்கு பாரம்பரிய ஓவியக் கலையை கற்பித்து வருவது இவரது முக்கியமான பணியாகும்.
கொண்டையராஜு கலை மரபை பாதுகாக்கும் கலைஞர், ஆசிரியர், வழிகாட்டி என்ற அடையாளத்துடன் ஓவியர் பி. முருகபூபதி அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து கலைச் சேவையில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறார்.
